Alexis Sánchez pledges his future to Barcelona

Barcelona’s Chilean striker Alexis Sánchez made it clear that his future was in Catalunya in a recent interview featured in Sport. When asked about the possibility of leaving the club, the player was adamant: “The manager and the club are counting on me for the next season. I will play for Barcelona next year.”

Barcelona’s already crowded attack has been made all the much more so with the arrival of Brazilian player Neymar, but Sánchez welcomed the competition, and the possibility of linking up with the player: “He will adapt well. I like the idea of competition and I have the quality to play with Neymar and Messi in the Barcelona attack.” Still, Alexis admitted that he was learning a new brand of football at this stage of his career: “To play for Barcelona is to learn how to play football all over again. The things that I did in Italy I cannot do here. Barcelona is a team that is watched by everyone; when you lose the ball the whole world knows about it.”

Neymar wins Confederations Cup Golden Ball Award

After a brilliant tournament, the Brazilian won his first individual award
Neymar has been named MVP of the Confederations Cup after Brazil’s 3-0 win over Spain in the final. FIFA awarded Barça’s new signing the Golden Ball Award for the tournament and the Bronze boot as the third highest scorer.
Neymar finished the Confederations Cup with 4 goals and was given the Bronze Boot as the third highest scorer in the Tournament after leading the Brazilian team to victory.
First individual award as an international
Barça’s new signing was voted the MVP of the games against Japan. Italy and Mexico and this award was his first on the international stage with Brazil.
Neymar was also the winner of the Bronze Boot in the 2011 World Club Cup with Santos, when they lost 4-0 in the final against Barça.
